Today we considered four sample resumes. Students evaluated one of them in detail using a resume checklist. Then students wrote 1-2 strengths and weaknesses for each of the four resumes.
Core
Bellwrite #58: What is cultural relativism? What is moral relativism? How would you explain why moral relativism is mistaken to someone who believes it is judgmental and unfair to "impose your moral beliefs on someone else"?
I conferenced with students briefly about their Screwtape Ads while students read from Screwtape Letters.
I taught the grammar principle of parallelism. When you are combining two or more ideas, they need to be in the same grammatical form.
For example, the following might be found in a resume:
Piano Teacher
- Teaching 5 students weekly lessons
- I organized biannual recitals.
- Award received for Utah Valley Young Musicians
Piano Teacher
- Taught 5 students weekly lessons
- Organized biannual recitals
- Recognized by Utah Valley Young Musicians
Finally, we completed a reader's theater about working conditions in England during the Industrial Revolution (see separate post). Please respond to the following questions (1 paragraph each).
- What were the working conditions like during the Industrial Revolution?
- How did the Industrial Revolution (affect or effect?) family life?
- Why do you think generally humane factory managers and owners would be cruel to workers?
- Finish reading Screwtape Letters by tomorrow.
- Screwtape Ad due Monday (NOTE: changed from tomorrow to Monday).
- Angel Letter #9 (for Screwtape Letters 26-31) due Monday.
- Final draft resume due next Thursday. Must include completed resume checklist, previous draft with signature from someone who hires others, and the final draft.
